Wettbewerb Parque de ValdebebasOASIEN - Continuous transformation through adaptive hydro-logics Vision-Principío Oasien claims to be a self-supporting park which addresses its position as a role model concerning the criteria of sustainability in ecology, society and maintenance. The system of the park takes advantage of changing environmental conditions and will be able to adapt to those changing circumstances through an infrastructure of high-tech agricultural engineering. This present design proposes several landscapes to fulfil this goal: zone of intense public activity, zone of recreation and deceleration, zone of change and transformation. The main principle foresees an entity which creates a spectrum of techniques, designed parks and landscapes unifying it into one big contemporary park in Valdebebas. Activity-Oasis-Transformation While using the topography the most occupying open spaces with high public pressure, multifunctional uses and prominent prospects are concentrated on the higher ‘peaks’ of the area. At the same time this activity level is functioning as an accumulation of means for collecting water during rainfall. Due to the fact of occasionally torrential rain and seasonal meagreness the infrastructure of the park provides a diversity of means of hydro-logics as a buffer for sparse times. Subsequently this system will prolongate and elongate the availability of water for permanent irrigation aside the existent arroyos and the temporary irrigated transformation zone in between. Whereas the oases dispose of water and a permanent intensive vegetation ensuring high amenity values 365 days a year, the smooth gradient topography in between undergoes continuous transformation dependent on the amount of gathered precipitation. Dry/Humid - Carácter de la plantacíon Through adaptive hydro-logics growth and blossoming of those extensive vegetations zones may be tuned and therefore be used to generate an image of continuous transformation and quality. Circulation-Pathway Net A net of pathways and ramps with curbs connects the topographies most relevant 5m- isohpyses, providing connections inside the park between intensive green areas, extensive perennial fields and viewpoints. It provides different types of velocity from fast walkways - generating short cuts, 20 km of pathways for cycling and running - up to unhurried trails for strolling and taking a break. During rainfall this system too participates as a mean of collecting water and feeding the several reservoirs. According to the main principle of adaptation some walkways within the transformation zone may be overgrown by vegetation in case the general water collection allows permanent irrigation and therefore intensive growth. Oasien Its uniqueness is driven through this adaptability hence the park is an supraregional attractor also during not so common park times as for example rain, winter or night.
